Julie Liu, DVM
Elite Fear Free Certified Professional, Cat Friendly Veterinarian, Low Stress Handling Silver Certified
I’m a general practice veterinarian, freelancer, and speaker based in Austin, TX with a special focus on felines and behavior. I’ve been featured as a subject matter expert in the New York Times, spoken at national veterinary conferences, and have been a frequent contributor to Fear Free.
I love speaking with vet and pet professionals and allowing them to connect more compassionately with the pets in their care. I thrive on collaboration and meet challenges with innovation. If your team is struggling with stressed pets, stressed people, and injuries related to handling, I’m here to help.
Since Nov 2023, I’ve provided in-home cat behavior consults in the Austin area through my housecall practice My Family Cat, assisting cat parents with concerns such as housesoiling, owner-directed aggression, and intercat conflict. My Family Cat and I were proud to have been featured in the April/ May edition of Today’s Veterinary Business in a profile on feline-focused veterinary professionals.
In addition, I serve as the Vice President of the Relief Veterinary Medical Association, which acts to advocate for relief veterinary professionals at the local and national level.
When I’m not being a veterinarian, I enjoy finding good ethnic food places, travel, backyard birding, and spending family time with my partner Brian and our super senior cat Puff.
